On Friday (March 14, 2025), Airbus announced that AEGEAN, the largest Greek airline, has placed an incremental order for eight additional A321neo aircraft, which will support the carrier’s expansion plans.  The new order expands AEGEAN’s direct orderbook with Airbus to 60 A320neo Family aircraft, of which 37 have already been delivered.

In Friday’s announcement, AEGEAN’s Chief Executive Officer, Dimitris Gerogiannis, said,

“The expansion of our investment plan with the additional order of eight Airbus A321neo aircraft is essential for achieving our growth objectives and further enhancing the competitiveness of our operations.  It is also clear that we have a strong preference for the larger-capacity and extended-range version offered by the A321neo type, which will soon represent two-thirds of our Airbus fleet.”

Also commenting on  AEGEAN’s incremental A321neo order, Airbus Commercial Aircraft’s EVP – Sales, Benoit de Saint-Exupéry, added,

“We are delighted that AEGEAN has once again chosen the fuel-efficient A321neo.  This decision underscores AEGEAN’s commitment to operational excellence and enhancing the passenger experience.  We value our collaboration with the largest Greek airline and look forward to continuing our partnership, supporting their growth plans within Europe and beyond.”

The largest member of the Airbus A320neo Family, the A321neo offers unparalleled range and performance.  With the incorporation of new generation engines and advanced Sharklets, the A321neo delivers a reduction of fuel use and CO2 emissions of more than 20 percent compared to previous generation single-aisle aircraft.  Like all Airbus aircraft, the A321neo can currently operate with up to 50 percent SAF, and Airbus plans on having all of their aircraft 100 percent SAF capable by 2030.  To date, Airbus has won orders for over 6,800 A321neos from more than 85 customers worldwide.
