Air Canada Aeroplan and Marriott Bonvoy Launch Expanded Loyalty Partnership

Air Canada has today announced that their loyalty program Aeroplan, has entered into an expanded loyalty partnership with Marriott Bonvoy® offering status match and two-way currency transfer.

On Wednesday (October 9, 2024), Air Canada announced that Aeroplan and Marriott Bonvoy® have expanded their loyalty partnership to include status match and two-way currency transfer.  Marriott Bonvoy is Marriott International’s award-winning travel program, offering the largest portfolio in the industry with 30 brands and 10,000 global destinations. With these loyalty partnership enhancements, Aeroplan 50K, 75K and Super Elite members will receive Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite Status, while Marriott Bonvoy Titanium Elite and Ambassador Elite members will receive complimentary Aeroploan 25K Status.


In Wednesday’s announcement, Marriott International’s Head of Loyalty, Cards and Enterprise Partnerships, David Flueck, said,


“Marriott Bonvoy members love to passionately explore cultures around the world, and together with Aeroplan, we are making aspirational destinations and incredible travel experiences more attainable and enjoyable for our members.  Whether it is through a preferred airline partner like Aeroplan or our rapidly growing portfolio of global properties across more than 30 brands, we are focused on delivering more value, benefits and travel experiences for our members.” 


Also commenting on the enhance loyalty partnership, Air Canada’s VP – Loyalty and Product, Scott O’Leary, added,


“We’re thrilled to bring the best of Aeroplan and Marriott Bonvoy together for our members.  Whether it’s topping up the points needed for a reward, or enjoying the benefits of Elite status, there’s a lot to be excited about."


Members of both programs must link their Marriott Bonvoy and Aeroplan accounts to unlock the status match across programs.  Additionally, Aeroplan Elite Status Members can now convert their Aeroplan points into Marriott Bonvoy points at a 1:1 ratio.  This is on top of the existing ability for members to convert their Marriott Bonvoy points into Aeroplan points at a 3:1 ratio.  Members with Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status also enjoy exclusive benefits (subject to availability) such as priority late check-out, enhanced room upgrades, and 25 percent bonus Marriott Bonvoy points.  Likewise, Aeroplan 25K Status Members will enjoy priority airport services like priority check-in and boarding, two free checked bags, eUpgrade credits for extra-comfort, complimentary preferred seats, exclusive offers and more.
