On Friday (May 17, 2024), Air Canada announced a substantial expansion of their schedule from Ottawa for the winter 2024/25 season.  The carrier will increase service from Ottawa by approximately 60 percent, adding up to 30 additional weekly flights compared to last year.  Air Canada will extend service from Ottawa to Calgary and Winnipeg to year-round, and will also add capacity to Quebec, Halifax and Vancouver.  For guests traveling to fun and sun destinations, the airline is also adding more flights to Fort Lauderdale, Tampa, Orlando, Cancun and Punta Cana.

In Friday’s announcement, Air Canada’s EVP – Revenue and Network Planning, Mark Galardo, said,

“Ottawa is an important part of Air Canada's network and in response to demand, we are growing our capacity to our nation's capital city by almost 60 per cent compared to 2023.  We are very excited to add more flights to the rest of the country with the extension of key non-stop routes to year-round and additional capacity to other cities.  We are also adding capacity to popular sun destinations and in conjunction with our joint venture partner United Airlines, increasing options for travel to and from the U.S.”

Also commenting on Air Canada’s Ottawa expansion, Ottawa International Airport Authority’s Vice President – Business Development & Marketing, Joel Tkach, said,

“Air Canada, a long-standing provider of frequent and reliable service to YOW, reinforces its presence with this notable capacity increase for the winter season.  Timely and strategic, these flights cater to the needs of Ottawa-Gatineau residents as they jet off to their favourite destinations or welcome visitors from afar.”

Additionally, Air Canada’s joint venture partner United Airlines will increase capacity to Ottawa this winter with an additional daily frequency to Chicago and Washington-Dulles.  Excluding Florida, Air Canada and United’s U.S. schedule from Ottawa will include three daily flights each to Chicago, New York-Newark, and Washington-Dulles, and once daily service to Washington-Reagan.
