Air Europa will launch twice weekly service to both Athens and Alghero from June and July respectively, expanding their network to 35 national and European destinations, along with 20 destinations in the Americas.
On Tuesday (May 17, 2022), Air Europa announced the launch of new routes from Madrid to Athens and Alghero for summer 2022. Flights to Athens will operate twice-weekly on Wednesdays and Sundays with a Boeing 787 Dreamliner from June through October, while two weekly flights to Alghero will operate on Thursdays and Saturdays from July through early September. With the additional routes, Air Europa expands their network to 35 national and European destinations, along with an additional 20 destinations in the Americas, increasing to 23 by the end of 2022.
In the coming months, Air Europa will add 11 new aircraft including five Boeing 787 Dreamliners and six Boeing 737s. By the end of 2022, the carrier's long-haul fleet capacity will be fully restored to pre-pandemic levels.
Air Europa is a member of the global SkyTeam alliance, which is made up of 19 airlines, that serve over 630 million passengers annually. The carrier maintains a modern fleet of over 35 aircraft with an average age of less than 4.0 years, one of the youngest fleets on the continent. Air Europa is committed to environmental conservation, and in 2018 was rated as the most environmentally efficient European network airline by Germany’s Atmosfair.
