On Thursday (February 15, 2024), Air Lease Corporation (ALC) reported their fourth quarter and full year financial results for the period ending December 31, 2024.  The company reported a fourth quarter net profit of $210.6 million or $1.89 per diluted share on a year-over-year increase in revenue of 115 percent to $716.6 million.  For the full year 2023, ALC reported a net profit of $572.9 million or $5.14 per diluted share on a 15.9 percent increase in revenue to $2.69 billion.  The international aircraft lessor ended 2023 with liquidity totaling $6.8 billion.

In a joint statement in Friday’s financial announcement, ALC’s President & CEO, John L. Plueger, and ALC’s Executive Chairman of the Board, Steven F. Udvar-Házy, said,

“Fourth quarter and full-year performance at ALC was very strong. With the exception of the benefit of tax reform in 2017, we achieved record revenues and profits for the 4th quarter, with net income increasing 56% and revenues increasing 19% over the prior year’s quarter.  Similarly, for the full year 2023 we enjoyed record revenues, aircraft sales, and total assets which exceeded $30 billion for the first time.  Looking forward, the commercial aircraft supply/demand backdrop remains highly favorable for our current fleet and our $22 billion forward orderbook scheduled to deliver over the next 4-5 years.”

During Q4, ALC took delivery of 22 aircraft from their orderbook, representing an investment of approximately $1.2 billion.  The company ended the period with an owned fleet of 463 aircraft, and more than $30 billion in total assets.  ALC also recognized approximately $67 million from insurance settlement claims in respect to four owned aircraft and equity interest in certain aircraft that were previously on lease to the Russian carrier JSC Siberia Airline (S7 Airlines).  Additionally, the aircraft lessor sold eight aircraft in the fourth quarter for approximately $440 million in proceeds.

As of the end of 2023, ALC had placed 100 percent of their committed orderbook on long-term leases for aircraft to be delivered through the end of 2025, and around 65 percent of their entire orderbook through 2028.  The company also ended the year with $31.0 billion in committed minimum future rental payments.  This includes $16.4 billion in payments for aircraft in ALC’s existing fleet, and $14.6 billion related to aircraft scheduled to be delivered between 2024 and 2027.

Based in Los Angeles, California, Air Lease Corporation (NYSE: AL) is a leading global aircraft leasing company.  The ALC team is principally involved in the purchase of commercial aircraft and leasing them to airlines worldwide with customized leasing and financing solutions.  At June 30, 2023, the company had a globally diversified customer base of 118 airlines across 63 countries.
