Air Mauritius Signs MoU With Polytechnics Mauritius to Advance Aviation Education

Air Mauritius has today announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Polytechnics Mauritius Ltd. with the goal of advancing aviation education in Mauritius.

On Monday (October 7, 2024), Air Mauritius announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Polytechnics Mauritius Ltd.  The agreement provides a framework for cooperation between the parties for the advancement of aviation education in Mauritius.  The partnership will focus on the training of students in aviation and related disciplines, such as  Aircraft Engineering, Aviation, Avionics, Pilot Training, Hospitality and Cabin Crew training, Ground Handling, IT, Soft Skills and International Logistics.  The MoU also establishes a pathway for direct employment of students upon successful program completion.


In Monday’s announcement, Polytechnics Mauritius’ CEO, Mr. Yamal Matabudul, said,


“This is a new dawn for Polytechnics Mauritius – now a privileged partner of Air Mauritius. ‘Skilling for the Skies’ is now a reality.  We are proud to collaborate with our National Carrier to ensure the middle management, technologists and technicians to fuel Air Mauritius ascension into higher skies.”


Also commenting on the new training partnership, Air Mauritius’ CEO, Mr. Charles Cartier, said, 


“By collaborating with Polytechnics Mauritius Ltd, we are investing in the future of Air Mauritius. This partnership ensures that we not only continue to uphold our commitment to safe and efficient air travel but also cultivate a workforce capable of driving innovation and excellence in the years ahead.  As part of our 7-year strategic plan to expand our network and increase capacity in key markets like London, Paris, and other international and regional destinations, we look forward to welcoming three new-generation Airbus A350-900 aircraft in 2026/27.  Polytechnics Mauritius will be instrumental in this journey, beginning in 2025, by training a new team of engineers and technicians equipped with the skills to thrive in our Technical Services Department.”
