New Caledonia’s Aircalin has taken delivery of their first Airbus A320neo which joins two previously delivered A330neos as part of the carrier’s fleet modernization program.
On Monday (December 28, 2020), Airbus announced the delivery of Aircalin’s first Airbus A320neo, which will join the New Caledonian carrier’s fleet of two previously delivered A330neos as part of their fleet modernization program. The new fleet will allow Aircalin to benefit from unique fleet commonality and the lowest operating costs in the respective size categories. Aircalin’s A320neo is powered by Pratt & Whitney PW1000 engines and is configured in a single class with 168 seats. The aircraft will allow the carrier to increase capacity and open new routes across the Pacific region.
The Airbus A320neo Family offers the widest single-aisle cabin in the sky and includes the latest technologies with next generation engines and sharklets. The aircraft delivers a 20 percent reduction in fuel burn and a 50 percent reduction in noise footprint compared to previous generation models. As of November 30, 2020, Airbus has received over 7,455 firm orders for A320neo Family aircraft from more than 120 global customers.
