Alaska Airlines Announces Launch of New Service to Anchorage From Detroit and Sacramento

Alaska Airlines has today announced the launch of new seasonal service to Anchorage from Detroit and Sacramento, as well as the resumption of nonstop service between Fairbanks and Portland.

On Tuesday (January 7, 2025), Alaska Airlines announced the launch of new seasonal service to Anchorage from both Detroit and Sacramento.  The carrier will also resume service between Fairbanks and Portland.  New weekly seasonal service from Anchorage  to Detroit and Sacramento will commence on June 14, 2025, while daily service between Fairbanks and Portland will resume on May 15, 2025.  For summer 2025, Alaska will offer the most nonstop destinations from Anchorage ever, with 15 direct routes to the Lower  48 and Hawaii.

 

In Tuesday’s announcement, Alaska Airlines’ VP – Network Planning and Revenue management, Kirsten Amrine, said,

 

“Our new routes provide guests with more options than ever to vacation this summer in the great state of Alaska.  The nonstop flights from Detroit and Sacramento will put travelers right in the heart of Alaska by skipping a layover, and Portlanders can enjoy nonstop service to Fairbanks.”

 

Also commenting on the carrier’s Anchorage expansion, Alaska Airlines’ Regional Vice President for Alaska, Marilyn Romano added,


“Summer is a tremendous time to visit The Great Land of Alaska with our long, warm days, tremendous culture and adventure, and amazing wild Alaska seafood.  There’s so much to do around Anchorage, and the city is a perfect jumping-off point to venture out to communities across the state, as well as hopping on a cruise.  For Alaskans, we now have even more nonstop destinations to visit family and friends this summer.”

For summer 2025, Alaska will offer direct service between Anchorage and Chicago, Denver, Detroit, Honolulu, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Minneapolis, New York JFK, Phoenix, Portland, Sacramento, Salt Lake City, San Diego, San Francisco and Seattle.  Additionally, Alaska is launching a range of new seasonal routes across their network this week, including flights from Sacramento to Los Cabos, Puerto Vallarta, Orlando and Tucson.  The carrier also offers winter seasonal service between Boise and Orlando, as well as between New York-JFK and Puerto Vallarta.
