Alaska Airlines is adding new winter service from San Francisco, Portland and Palm Springs. The carrier will offer flights between San Francisco and Cancun, from Portland to Tampa and New Orleans, and between Palm Springs and Austin.
On Thursday (June 10, 2021), Alaska Airlines announced an expansion of their winter 2021/22 schedule from San Francisco, Portland and Palm Springs to sun-soaked destinations across North America. From December 16, 2021, the carrier will launch service between San Francisco and Cancun, as well as flights from Portland to New Orleans and Tampa. Starting November 19, 2021, Alaska will also launch five weekly flights between Palm Springs and Austin, the only nonstop service from the heart of the Coachella Valley to the Texas capital.
In Thursday’s announcement, Alaska Airlines’ Vice President of Networks and Alliances, Brett Catlin, said,
“Since March, our bookings for leisure travel have exceeded what they were before the pandemic. For many of our guests, there's an increased confidence that comes after being vaccinated. They were cooped up for well over a year – now they're ready to relax, enjoy and explore. With these new routes, we can whisk them away to destinations that have a warm sparkle in the wintertime.”
With the added winter services, Alaska Airlines’ guests will now have access to 42 more nonstop flights than before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, including all-new service to Belize from Los Angeles and Seattle starting this November.
Alaska Airlines and their regional partners serve over 120 destinations in the United States, Mexico, Canada, Costa Rica and Belize (from November 2021). The sustainability-focused carrier emphasizes Next-Level Care for guests, while offering low fares and award-winning service. Alaska has hubs in Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Portland and Anchorage. Along with their Global Partners, Alaska Airlines’ guests can earn and redeem miles on flights to more than 1,000 global destinations. On March 31, 2021, Alaska Airlines became the 14th member of the oneworld global alliance. Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air are subsidiaries of the Alaska Air Group, Inc. (NYSE: ALK).
