On Tuesday (April 22, 2025), Alaska Airlines announced continued growth in San Diego with 30 percent more flights and new nonstop service to Chicago O’Hare, Denver and Phoenix.  Each of the new routes will launch later this year, all with three daily frequencies.  Combined, Alaska and Hawaiian Airlines now offer 44 nonstop destinations from San Diego, more than any other airline, with over 90 peak-day departures.  Service between San Diego and Phoenix will start on August 20th, followed by flights to Chicago O’Hare and Phoenix on October 4, 2025.

Additionally, starting October 26th, Alaska will add flights on the most popular routes from San Diego, with an increase in frequencies of 50 percent or more.  This includes six daily direct flights to Las Vegas, Sacramento, and San Jose, California, as well as three daily flights to Salt lake City.  Tickets on all new routes are now available for booking on the Alaska Airlines website, with the expanded schedule available for purchase from this weekend.

In Tuesday’s announcement, Alaska Air Group’s CEO, Ben Minicucci, said,

“We’re proud to already serve San Diego and the surrounding region with the most nonstop destinations from San Diego.  These exciting new additions to our network further expand our ability to take San Diegans directly to where they want to go, better than any other airline, with our premium onboard service and global loyalty program.”

Also commenting on Alaska’s San Diego expansion, San Diego County Regional Airport Authority’s President and CEO, Kimberly Becker, added,

“We are very pleased that Alaska Airlines is continuing to grow its service from San Diego.   timing is perfect for adding new routes and increasing frequency to existing flights.  We look forward to welcoming both leisure and business visitors to our year-round sunny climate while providing more flights from SAN to destinations across the country.”
