The carrier will invest $75 million in the new base which will create 89 high-paying jobs and house three Airbus A320s. Located in Central Texas, Austin is the state capital and a world-famous destination for live music, cultural arts, film festivals, dining and a host of outdoor activities. The city is home to the University of Texas, the South by Southwest festival and the newly-established Austin FC professional soccer club. Austin is also one of the nation’s fastest-growing centers for technology, innovation and business enterprise. Allegiant expects to start their new Austin base operations on November 18, 2021.
Allegiant started operations in Austin in October 2013 and currently offers nonstop service from Austin to 14 destinations including Orlando/Sanford, Destin/Fort Walton Beach, Cincinnati, Memphis, Knoxville, Albuquerque, Pittsburgh, Indianapolis, Des Moines, Asheville, Grand Rapids, Bozeman (from May 27, 2021), Bentonville, Arkansas (From July 2, 2021) and Las Vegas. Allegiant operates an exclusively nonstop “out-and-back” network with each day’s flying starting and ending at a base, rather than connecting through busy hub airports. The company employs over 4,200 team members across the U.S. and plans on immediately hiring pilots, flight attendants, mechanics and ground personnel to support the new operations in Austin.
Founded in 1999, Las Vegas-based Allegiant (NASDAQ: ALGT) links passengers from small to medium cities to world-class leisure destinations with all non-stop flights and industry-low average fares. The company offers base airfares that are often half the price of a typical roundtrip ticket and operates an all-Airbus A320 Family fleet.
