On Wednesday (March 26, 2025), American Airlines announced the addition of five new routes to Cancun, Mexico (CUN) and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic (PUJ), while expanding service on routes to Hawaii, South America and Europe.  This winter, American will operate over 270 peak daily departures to popular beach destinations across Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America from the U.S., more than any other airline.

In Wednesday’s announcement, American Airlines’ SVP – Network Planning, Brian Znotins, said,

“American’s comprehensive global network is designed to give customers more access to the destinations they want to visit.  Together with new routes, more flights on popular routes and extended seasons to major destinations, American’s schedule is designed for travelers to get away to sun, sand and more next winter.”

From November 8, 2025, American will become the first airline to launch international service from the state of Oklahoma with new service between Oklahoma City (OKC) and Cancun, Mexico (CUN).  American will offer more than 40 peak-day departures to Cancun from 19 destinations starting in November.  Additionally, the carrier will add four new routes to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic (PUJ) from December 6th.  In total, American will operate over 20 peak-day departures to 11 U.S destinations from PUJ.

Additionally, American  will offer up to 10 weekly flights between DFW and Sao Paulo (GRU), and a total of 10 daily flights to Brazil, more than any other airline.
