On Tuesday (May 4, 2021), American Airlines announced the continued reopening of Admirals Club lounges across the country, including Atlanta, Phoenix and Miami. As the lounges reopen, the carrier is offering new healthy signature menu choices such as quinoa salad and southwestern power bowls. Additionally, the airline has expanded innovative touchless technology to provide a safe, convenient and easy experience. For May, the Admirals Club lounges will reopen at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport (PHX) at gate B7, Miami International Airport (MIA) at gate D15, and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL).

Operating schedules at previously opened lounges including Austin (AUS), Nashville (BNA), and Houston (IAH) will be increased to 7 days a week. Just in time for the Memorial Day weekend holiday, American will have 27 lounges reopened across 21 U.S. cities, as well as international lounges in São Paulo (GRU), Brazil and Mexico City (MEX). After temporary pandemic-related closings, American Airlines began reopening lounges in June 2020, with enhanced health and wellbeing improvements.

From May 5th, Admirals Club lounges will feature revamped food-for-sale items including a chilled quinoa salad, southwestern power bowl, cheesy tater tots, and bacon, egg & cheese breakfast sandwiches, which will be available all day in select lounges. American is also expanding kids’ offerings at all locations with favorites such as chicken bites and cheddar sandwiches. Additionally, children’s rooms have been reopened inside Admirals Club lounges.

In Tuesday’s announcement, American Airlines’ Managing Director of Premium Customer Experience and Onboard Products, Clarissa Sebastian, said,

“As we welcome customers back to the skies, we have been eager to expand signature offerings that everyone in the family — including kids — can enjoy. We know even more families will be returning to travel this summer and the Admirals Club provides safe and clean service with care.”

American Airlines is expanding their touchless technology to streamline the airport experience. From May 6th, the carrier will introduce touchless Admirals Club entry trial at the Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) Terminal A lounge. Participating guests will enter the lounge via facial recognition technology, without having to pull out their phone or wallet. The technology is currently in use at DFW and Reagan Washington-National (DCA) enabling touchless bag drop, and will roll out to Admirals Club lounges in Terminals B, C, and D, in the coming weeks.

Customers will also be able to order signature food offerings later this month via their own personal mobile devices. The trial will begin at DFW’s Admirals Club in Terminal A, and after a guest places their order, the food will be delivered by gloved and masked team members. As previously announced, Admirals Club lounges also offer touch-free access to news and magazines, with can be accessed by scanning a QR code, or at read.aa.com, after connecting to the Admirals Club’s free Wi-Fi.
