American Airlines has today debuted a new aircraft livery dedicated to recipients of the prestigious U.S. Medal of Honor. The Airbus A321 ‘Flagship Valor’ will be a flying tribute to recipients of America’s highest award for military valor.
Today (March 25, 2022), on National Medal of Honor Day, American Airlines announced the debut of a new special Airbus A321 ‘Flagship Valor’ livery to honor recipients of America’s highest award for military valor in action. Flagship Valor depicts major military conflicts and the six characteristics that embody the Medal of Honor, and those who have received the prestigious award. Additionally, onboard guests will be able to scan QR codes for access to information about the medal and its extraordinary recipients. The information will serve as a teaching tool to pass on these remarkable stories to future generations. The aircraft’s first mission will be to transport Medal of Honor recipients on an honor flight from Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in Washington D.C. (DCA) today.
Flagship Valor was officially unveiled Thursday evening (March 24th) ahead of today’s groundbreaking of the National Medal of Honor Museum in Arlington, Texas. The Museum is expected to open in 2024, and will create a permanent home and repository of the remarkable stories of America’s greatest military heroes. The new Flagship Valor livery was applied at American’s Maintenance base at Tech Ops – Tulsa, in Oklahoma.
