On Monday (December 16, 2024), Azorra announced the delivery of the first of four Airbus A220-300s on lease to Romania-based carrier AnimaWings.  The aircraft was delivered from Azorra’s orderbook with Airbus and touched down in Bucharest on Monday (December 16th) after departing Airbus’ Mirabel, Canada production facility.  The aircraft will support AnimaWings as they begin incorporating  next-generation aircraft into their fleet, and will allow the carrier to open new routes across Europe and the Middle East.

In Monday’s announcement, Azorra’s Founder and CEO, John Evans, said,

“We are proud to deliver the first new Airbus A220-300 to our friends at AnimaWings, made possible through our strong relationship with Airbus.  This marks a significant milestone as the first of its type in Romania.  With its unmatched performance and efficiency, this aircraft is perfectly suited to support AnimaWings growth objectives and will play a vital role in the future of aviation in Romania.”

Also commenting on the A220-300 delivery, AnimaWings’ Co-Owner, Marius Pandel, said,

“Our partnership with Azorra has been instrumental in helping us take this significant step, and we value their expertise and collaboration in shaping the future of our fleet.”

Airbus Canada’s CEO, Benoît Schultz, added,

“This first A220 delivery to AnimaWings brings about another milestone for the A220 as the Romania-based airline will become the tenth A220 operator in Europe, showcasing the Programme’s continued expansion.  Thanks to the A220 innovative cabin features, the AnimaWings’ passengers will enjoy a superior flying experience.  Moreover, as a latest-generation aircraft, the A220 brings 25% lower CO2 emissions per seat compared to previous generation aircraft.  We thank both Azorra and AnimaWings for their trust.”

The clean sheet designed Airbus A220 was purposely built for efficiency and performance in the 100-150 seat market.  The aircraft offers passengers the widest economy seats in its class, large panoramic windows, and a 50 percent smaller noise footprint compared to previous generation aircraft.  To date, Azorra has delivered three A220-300s from their orderbook with Airbus to customers worldwide.
