Atlas Air has taken delivery of a new Boeing 777-200 Freighter, which will be operated on behalf of MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company SA, as part of a previously announced long-term ACMI agreement.
On Thursday (November 30, 2023), Atlas Air, a subsidiary of Atlas Air Worldwide, announced that they have taken delivery of a new Boeing 777-200 Freighter. The aircraft will be operated on behalf of MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company SA, as part of a previously announced long-term ACMI (aircraft, crew maintenance and insurance) agreement. This is the third of four 777 Freighters that Atlas Air will operate for MSC, and will complement existing weekly service and add an additional route between Hong Kong (HKG) and Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW). Atlas Air expects to take delivery of the fourth aircraft in the coming weeks.
In Thursday’s announcement, Atlas Air Worldwide’s Chief Commercial Officer and Head of Sustainability, Richard Broekman, said,
“The delivery of this new 777 Freighter is a proud moment for Atlas and testament to our long-term strategic partnership with MSC. We are proud to support the ongoing expansion of MSC’s air cargo solution by providing additional speed, flexibility and reliability to their existing network. We look forward to this third 777 Freighter entering into service for MSC, and will welcome the arrival of the fourth later this year.”
Also commenting on the Boeing 777F delivery, MSC’s SVP – Air Cargo, Jannie Davel, added,

The Boeing 777-200 Freighter has a range of 4,970 nautical miles (9,200 km) and a maximum structural payload capacity of 235,900 lbs. (107 tonnes). The longest range and capable freighter is known for high reliability, fuel efficiency, and lower maintenance and operating costs, while also meeting quota standards for maximum accesibility to noise-sensative airports worldwide.
