Atlas Air Worldwide has announced the appointment of Klaus Goersch as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. He will report to the company’s CEO, Michael Steen, and will also serve on the Executive Leadership Team.
On Tuesday (December 3, 2024), Atlas Air Worldwide announced the appointment of Klaus Goersch as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, reporting directly to the company’s CEO, Michael Steen. Mr. Goersch will also serve on Atlas Air Worldwide’s Executive Leadership Team. Joining the company in late December, he will oversee Atlas’ global flight, ground and technical operations, with responsibility for safety, regulatory compliance and operational excellence. Additionally, as the company’s primary liaison with the FAA, he will lead strategic initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, while maintaining Atlas’ industry-leading safety standards.
In Tuesday’s announcement, Atlas Air Worldwide’s CEO, Michael Steen, said,
“Klaus brings exceptional operational leadership experience and deep aviation expertise to Atlas. His proven track record of successfully managing complex airline operations, combined with his strong regulatory background and focus on operations efficiency, makes him ideally suited to help drive Atlas’ continued transformation and growth.”
Also commenting on his upcoming role as Atlas’ Chief Operating Officer, Klaus Goersch said,

Mr. Goersch brings nearly three decades of aviation industry experience, serving most recently as Chief Operations Officer with Air India. Previously, he served as Chief Operating Officer for both British Airways and Air Canada. Additionally, he served as CEO of NEOM Airlines in Saudi Arabia, and was also Executive Vice President of AirTran Airways. Klaus Goersch holds both a Master of Aeronautical Science and a Bachelor of Science in Professional Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
