On Wednesday (September 14, 2022), Austrian Airlines announced that they have taken delivery of their first new Airbus A320neo. The aircraft, registration OE-LZN, departed Toulouse under flight number OS1472 on Tuesday (September 13, 2022) at 16:12 and arrived in Vienna at 18:22 local time. The A320neo was then handed over to the Austrian Technik team for cabin upgrade and painting. The aircraft’s first commercial revenue passenger flight is scheduled for mid-October. By spring 2023, Austrian will receive three additional A320neos, with the next delivery scheduled for October 2022.

In Wednesday’s announcement, Austrian Airlines’ COO, Francesco Sciortino, said,

“Due to modern engine technology and improved aerodynamics, the aircraft type is characterized by more efficient fuel consumption and lower noise emissions compared to the previous model. We are thus taking an important step on the way to more climate-friendly air traffic and equipping our fleet for the future.”
