On Thursday (April 28, 2022), Avelo Airlines announced the opening of their third base at Orlando International Airport (MCO) this June, joining existing bases in Burbank (BUR) California and New Haven (HVN) Connecticut. Over the summer, Avelo will take delivery of two additional Boeing 737-700 NGs, which will be based in Orlando, and expects to add more aircraft to the base during the third and fourth quarters of 2022. The MCO base will support the creation of around 150 new jobs over the next 12 months. The carrier is also launching new routes from Orlando to Charleston, SC, Wilmington, NC and Washington D.C. Avelo expects to serve ten destinations from Orlando by the end of 2022, including existing service to Tweed-New Haven Airport (HNV).

In Thursday’s announcement, Avelo Airlines’ Founder, Chairman and CEO, Andrew Levy, said,

“Avelo is poised for continued growth as we add more planes, more Crewmembers, more destinations and more bases — including our new base in Orlando. I’m very appreciative of the warm reception The Sunshine State has greeted Avelo with since we began flying here last November. I’m looking forward to the positive economic and community impact Avelo will make in Orlando and across Florida as we increase our investment here in the years ahead.”

From June 30th, Avelo will offer three weekly flights from Orlando to Charleston International Airport (CHS) with introductory one-way fares from $39. Service to Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI) will operate five times weekly from June 30th through September 6, 2022, with fares from $59. Flights between Orlando and Wilmington International Airport (ILM) will operate three times weekly from July 1st, with fares from $49. To qualify for the low introductory fares, tickets must be booked by May 5, 2022 (blackout dates and additional T&Cs apply). All routes will be operated with a Boeing 737-700 NG.

Avelo is also expanding their existing service between Orlando and Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN) in Southern Connecticut to 19 weekly flights. Starting June 16, 2022, the carrier’s current daily service on the route will be expanded to three daily flights on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, and two daily flights on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Launched on April 28, 2021, Avelo Airlines was founded with the simple purpose of inspiring travel. The carrier operates a fleet of single-class Next Generation Boeing 737s and offers customers a refreshingly smooth experience, convenience, and low everyday fares. Avelo currently serves 27 popular destinations across the U.S. from their bases at Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR), Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN) and Orlando International Airport (MCO). By the end of 2022, the carrier’s fleet will include at least 15 Boeing 737 NGs.
