On Wednesday (July 24, 2024), Avelo Airlines announced an expansion of service to/from Lakeland International Airport (LAL) in Central Florida with the launch of new service to seven destinations, including San Juan, Puerto Rico (SJU), Atlanta (ATL), Boston/Manchester, N.H. (MHT), Charlotte/Concord (USA), Hartford, Conn. (BDL), Philadelphia/Wilmington, Del. (ILG) and Rochester, N.Y. (ROC).  These new routes join Avelo’s existing service between Lakeland and Southern Connecticut’s Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN), for a total of eight routes.  Flights to/from Lakeland are now available for booking with one-way fares from $52 (T&Cs apply).

In Wednesday’s announcement, Avelo Airlines’ Founder and CEO, Andrew Levy, said,

“Lakeland – We’re growing. The addition of these seven new routes from LAL represents a significant expansion of Avelo’s presence in Central Florida and our commitment to the region. We’re off to a great start with our service to New Haven - showcasing Avelo’s low fares, travel-friendly convenience and industry-leading reliability.  Now with eight popular routes from LAL, traveling to and from Central Florida is easier than ever.”

Also commenting on Avelo’s Lakeland expansion, Lakeland Airport’s Director, Kris Hallstrand, added,

“I’m extremely pleased with the addition of these new destinations so quickly after start-up. Our team is grateful to the community for the support they have shown Lakeland International and Avelo Airlines.  Additionally, I would like to thank the City and Avelo teams who have worked tirelessly to provide affordable, efficient, and on-time air service to our community.  I also want to thank our development partners, Visit Central Florida, and the Transportation Security Administration who have contributed greatly to our success.  We are making the jump from crawling to a brisk jog and now we look forward to running alongside Avelo as we grow together!”
