Full-service aircraft lessor Aviation Capital Group (ACG) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for 20 Airbus A220s and a firm order for 40 A320neo Family Aircraft, of which five are A320XLRs.
On Thursday (December 30, 2021), Airbus announced that aircraft lessor Aviation Capital Group (ACG) has signed commitments and placed firm orders for up to 60 aircraft. ACG has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for 20 Airbus A220s and placed a firm order for 40 Airbus A320neo Family aircraft, including five A321XLRs. As part of this substantial order, ACG is supporting Airbus’ recently launched multi-million dollar ESG fund initiative that will contribute towards investment into sustainable aviation development projects.
In Thursday’s announcement, ACG’s President and CEO, Thomas Baker, said,
“We are delighted to expand our portfolio with additional A220 and A320neo Family aircraft. These highly advanced aircraft will enhance ACG’s strategic objective to offer our airline customers the most modern and fuel-efficient aircraft available.”
Also commenting on the new order, Airbus’ Chief Commercial Officer and Head of Airbus International, Christian Scherer, said,
“The order is another gratifying endorsement of our single aisle products by one of the world’s premier aircraft asset managers, ACG and the Tokyo Century Group. It also forcefully confirms the A220 as a growingly desirable aircraft and investment in the commercial aviation landscape. We congratulate and thank ACG for its decision to select both the A220 and A320neo Families.”
The Airbus A220 Family is the only aircraft purpose-built for the 100-150 seat market and brings together state-of-the-art aerodynamics, advanced materials and Pratt & Whitney’s state-of-the-art geared turbofan (GTF) engines. Combined, these technologies deliver a 50 percent reduced noise footprint and a fuel burn reduction of up to 25 percent compared to previous generation aircraft, as well as around 50 percent lower NOx emissions versus the industry standard.
The Airbus A320neo Family is the world’s most successful commercial aircraft family ever and had demonstrated a 99.7 percent operational reliability rate. The A320neo Family incorporates the latest technologies with new generation engines and Sharklet wing tip devices, while offering unmatched guest comfort in all classes, including 18-inch wide seats in Economy Class as standard. The efficient A320neo Family provides operators with at least a 20 percent reduction in fuel use and CO2 emissions. The A321XLR (extra-long-range) aircraft provides an extended range of up to 4,700 nautical miles, giving the aircraft a flight time of up to eleven hours.
