Airbus has today announced from the 2024 Farnborough International Airshow that Libya’s Berniq Airways has placed a firm order for six Airbus A320neo Family aircraft, doubling the number of the type in their current operating fleet.
On Tuesday (July 23, 2024), Airbus announced from the 2024 Farnborough International Airshow (FIA) that Berniq Airways of Libya has placed a firm order for six Airbus A320neo Family aircraft, adding to the six currently in operation with the carrier. With the delivery of the additional aircraft, Berniq Airways will further develop regional and international routes.
In Tuesday’s announcement, Berniq Airways’ Chairman, Waseem Ezzway, said,
“We are proud to be the first airline in Libya to order the advanced A320neo Family aircraft. This significant investment marks a new chapter for Berniq Airways as we continue to lead the way in modernizing our fleet and enhancing our service offerings.”
Also commenting on the new A320neo Family order, Airbus’ EVP Sales – Commercial Aircraft, Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, said,
“It is a pleasure to see Berniq Airways expanding its fleet with the world's best-in-class single-aisle aircraft. The A320neo family will enable Berniq Airways to provide its customers with unparalleled comfort while offering the airline exceptional economic advantages.”
The world’s most popular single-aisle aircraft, the Airbus A320 Family has secured over 18,000 orders from more than 300 customers worldwide. The Airbus A321neo is the largest member of the A320neo Family, and incorporates new generation engines and advanced Sharklets to deliver a 20 percent reduction in fuel use and CO2 emissions, as well as a 50 percent smaller noise footprint, compared to previous generation single-aisle aircraft.
