On Monday (December 16, 2024), Binter announced the launch of six new routes from Tenerife for 2025, including direct connections to Valencia, San Sebastian, Pamplona, Granada, Murcia and Ponta Delgada. This represents a 48 percent increase in seats to/from Tenerife North Airport (TFN). In addition to the new routes, the carrier will also increase capacity on select existing routes. Starting March 30, 2025, Binter will operate direct flights between Tenerife and five mainland destinations, including Valencia (VLC), with four weekly frequencies, and San Sebastián (EAS), Pamplona (PNA), Granada (GRX) and Murcia (RMU), with two weekly frequencies each. Starting July 1st, 2025, the carrier will also launch service between Tenerife and Ponta Delgada (PDL) in the Azores with one weekly frequency.
In Monday’s announcement, Binter’s General Coordinator, Santiago Guerra, said,
“The arrival of the new jet aircraft will allow us to increase the destinations with which we connect Tenerife directly by 75%, which we hope will be an important boost for the arrival of visitors from new markets.”
Also commenting on Binter’s Tenerife expansion, the Tourism of the Cabildo de Tenerife’s Vice President and Councillor, Lope Alfonso, said,
“With these new routes we are advancing the island’s connectivity policy, in which direct connections with the Peninsula, where Binter plays a fundamental role, play an important role, and to confirm the growth of passenger traffic and new routes to and from Tenerife. These connections strengthen Tenerife’s leading position in the national market and also improve the mobility expectations of residents on the island. Binter’s commitment to Tenerife also generates more opportunities for our productive fabric and contributes to the creation of new jobs.”
Founded in 1989, Binter began flying in the Canary Islands archipelago with service connecting the islands and a clear focus on public service. The company was acquired from the Iberia Group in 2002 by a group of Canarian investors, becoming a 100 percent Canary Islands company. In 2005, the airline began to operate flights outside of the Canary Islands with the goal of offering direct connections to other markets. In 2018, the airline began regular service to national destinations, first to Mallorca and Vigo, and later to Pamplona, Zaragoza, Murcia, Santander, Vitoria, Asturias and Jerez de la Frontera. Since that time, Binter has substantially expanded their domestic and international network.
