On Tuesday (November 26, 2024), British Airways announced three new routes to Italy for summer 2025.  From May 2025, the carrier will introduce new flights to Rimini (RMI) on the Adriatic Coast from London Heathrow (LHR) and Between London Gatwick (LGW) and Salerno (QSR) on the Amalfi Coast.  British Airways will also launch new service Between London City (LCY) and Olbia (OLB) in Sardinia, complementing existing service from Heathrow.  With the added routes, the airline will serve 19 destinations in Italy for summer 2025, more than any other European carrier.

In Tuesday’s announcement, British Airways’ Chief Planning and Strategy Officer, Neil Chernoff, said,

“Italy continues to prove hugely popular with our customers, which is why it’s our biggest European destination, and second globally behind the US.  Last month, we saw a 10% increase in searches for summer flights to Italy compared to 2023, so we’re pleased to be offering an even bigger choice of destinations next year. Rimini, Salerno and Olbia are all coastal destinations, so we expect them to be particularly popular with our leisure customers seeking sun, sea, and of course Italy’s fantastic food.”

Service to Rimini from Heathrow will commence on May 15, 2025, and will operate three times per week on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays.  BA Euroflyer will operate flights between  Gatwick and Salerno with three weekly flights on Mondays Thursdays and Saturdays from May 22, 2025.  For Summer 2025, customers wishing to visit Olbia in Sardinia can do so from either Heathrow or London City airports.  BA Cityflyer will launch new service from London City to Olbia with a weekly flights starting May 25th, increased to twice weekly flights on Wednesdays and Sundays from July 16, 2025.

British Airways, the national flag carrier of the UK, serves nearly 200 destinations across more than 65 countries, including partner airline routes.  The carrier also serves more destination from London than any other airline.  BA customers have access to one of the world’s most extensive domestic and international network.  The carrier operates out of three major London Airports (London Heathrow, London Gatwick, and  London City), serving up to 26 cities in the U.S. alone.  British Airways continues to expand their global route network, and during 2024, has already added new service to Bangkok, Agadir and Izmir.
