British Airways has announced the selection of award-winning family owned British Brand Birchall as their new tea provider. Birchall tea will be served onboard from May 1st, with their Great Rift English Breakfast, along with Earl Grey, Peppermint and Chamomile.

On Thursday (April 24, 2025), British Airways announced that they have selected the award-winning family owned British Brand Birchall as their newest tea provider. Starting May 1st, Birchall’s Great Rift English Breakfast tea will be featured in the new lineup, joining Earl Grey, Peppermint, Chamomile and others. As the carrier serves nearly 40 million cups of tea onboard annually, British Airways goes to great length to ensure the right selection for guests, with Birchall chosen for their performance in blind taste testing, as well as their British roots and sustainability credentials.

In Thursday’s announcement, British Airways’ Chief Customer Officer, Calum Laming, said,
“Last year, we served more than 37 million cups of tea in the air, and more than two million cups in our lounges globally, so we knew that selecting our newest tea partner was a decision we had to get right. We’re proud to be continually leading the way in championing British originality, and it was important to us that our tea not only ticks the taste box, but also showcases the quality and talent we have on our doorstep here in the UK.”
Also commenting on the new collaboration with British Airways, Birchall Tea’s Managing Director, Daniel Graham, added,
“We are immensely proud to be supplying tea for British Airways, which is the epitome of British quality and service; which is something incredibly important to us as well. We hope British Airways’ customers enjoy this elevated tea experience in the air and on the ground for years to come.”
Starting May 1st, 2025, British Airways’ customers can enjoy Birchall tea across all long-haul cabins, including World Traveller (economy), World Traveller Plus (premium economy), Club World (long-haul business), and First. The new tea offering will also be available onboard all short-haul flights in Club Europe (short-haul business) from June, and available for purchase in Euro Traveller (economy) from July via the High Life Café. Additionally, Birchall tea will be rolled out across British Airways’ lounges globally.
