British Airways has today announced changes to the British Airways Executive Club, which has been rebranded as The British Airways Club, and will now offer members new ways to earn Tier Points to progress through the Tiers.
On Monday (December 30, 2024), British Airways announced changes to the former British Airways Executive Club, which has now been re-branded as The British Airways Club. The refreshed loyalty program will have a new look and feel, and will introduce new ways for members to earn Tier Points and to progress through the Tiers, including spend on co-branded credit cards, and on ancillaries such as seat selection and additional luggage. The enhanced loyalty program will also introduce permanent, limitless Tier Point earnings on holiday packages from British Airways Holidays. This follows changes last year to award customers Avios based on their spend, which has allowed 70 percent of customers to earn the same or more Avios as they did under the previous model.
In Monday’s announcement, British Airways’ Chief Commercial Officer, Colm Lacy, said,
“The changes we have announced today underline our continued investment in our loyalty programme and in our customers. Based on our Members’ feedback, we’ve built on the changes we’ve already made – including how customers collect Avios and their membership year – in a way that we believe better rewards their loyalty and reflects their changing travel needs.
“While we have announced a number of positive changes today, I particularly wanted to highlight better rewarding our customers who book through British Airways Holidays and making this a permanent part of our proposition, removing the limit on earning. We know that many of our customers make their holiday plans during our annual January sale period, so it’s great to be able to announce this today.”
Starting April 1st, 2025, members of The British Airways Club can expect a new Tier Point system when flying. Members will earn Tier Points based on the cost of their flight and, for the first time, also for ancillary spend on items such as seat selection and excess baggage. Customers will earn 1 Tier Point for every £1 of eligible spending, which comes with recalculated Tier thresholds. Additionally, Members will also earn Tier Points and Collect Avios by purchasing a contribution to SAF, earning up to 1,000 Tier Points per year. Customers will also be able to use their Avios as a form of payment on a dedicated landing page from April 1st, 2025.
As previously mentioned, members will now earn limitless Tier Points on British Airways Holidays based on the price of the entire package, making it easier to earn elite status in fewer trips. Later next year, members will also earn Tier Points on credit card spending, with BA American Express Premium Plus Cardmembers having the ability to earn up to 2,500 Tier Points by spending on their card.
British Airways will also introduce more milestone moments between Tiers, allowing members to unlock rewarding benefits before reaching their next level. This will start with gifts on 2,500, 4,000, and 5,000 Bonus Avios at milestones within Bronze and Silver. Celebrating these changes, British Airways is offering limited time Tier Points when booking before February 14, 2025, for travel from April 1st, 2025. These Bonus Tier Points will be awarded based on cabin from Euro Traveller to First Class.
