Condor Appoints Björn Walther as New Chief Financial Officer

Condor has appointed Björn Walther as the airline’s new Chief Financial Officer effective June 1st, 2022. In his new role, Mr. Walther will be responsible for Condor’s financial management, IT, legal & compliance, procurement, fleet & fuel management and insurance.

On Monday (May 16, 2022), Condor announced the appointment of Björn Walther as the airline’s new Chief Financial Officer. In his new role, Mr. Walther will be responsible for Condor’s financial management, IT, legal and compliance, procurement, fleet management, fuel management and insurance. He will also join company CEO Ralf Teckentrup and Christian Schmitt, COO and Accountable Manager on Condor’s management board. Björn Walther has extensive industry experience with the TUI Group and Roland Berger, and also served as CEO of ÖGER Tours. Additionally, he was the Chief Financial Officer for Continental Europe at the Thomas Cook Group. Prior to joining Condor, he served as CFO for HRS Group in Cologne.


Björn Walther will succeed Frank Hundt, who took over as interim CFO as the successor to Christoph Debus. Mr. Hundt will once again take over as Condor’s Director Controlling, and will report directly to Björn Walther.


In Monday’s announcment, Condor’s Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Friedrich Andreae, said,


“With Björn Walther, we are gaining an experienced and accomplished CFO for Condor, who already knows the company very well, especially from his time as a member of the Condor Supervisory Board from 2016-2021. Especially now that Condor has set the course for a good future with a new owner, Björn Walther is taking on the major task of expanding Condor's financial stability in a dynamic environment and at the same time driving the company's further development. We would like to thank Frank Hundt for his commitment as interim CFO and are very pleased that he will remain with Condor as Director Controlling.”


Founded in 1956, Condor is Germany’s favorite leisure airline and serves over nine million guests annually to 90 destinations in Europe, Africa and America from nine German gateways, Zurich and Vienna. The German leisure carrier has a fleet of over 50 aircraft which are meticulously maintained to the highest safety standards by their wholly-owned subsidiary Condor Technik with facilities in Frankfurt and Düsseldorf. Starting in Fall 2022, Condor will become the German launch customer for the Airbus A330neo.
