Condor is reaffirming their clear commitment to Düsseldorf for their winter 2021/22 schedule with over 40 weekly departures to 13 destinations, including three new weekly long-haul flights to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.
On Tuesday (November 9, 2021), Condor announced that their winter 2021/22 schedule will include a strong focus on Düsseldorf with 40 weekly departures to 13 destinations. New this winter is three-times weekly long-haul flights to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. The carrier also offers short and medium-haul flights to warm weather favorites such as Lanzarote, Fuerteventura and Hurghada. Additionally, customers longing for a well-deserved getaway will enjoy daily service to Gran Canaria or Tenerife in the Canary Islands. For summer 2022, Condor will also add even more popular holiday destinations from Düsseldorf. In addition to Malaga and Nice, Condor will offer service to Athens, as well as Rijeka and Dubrovnik in Croatia.
In Tuesday’s announcement, Condor’s CEO, Ralf Teckentrup, said,
“We are delighted that Condor is the first airline to reintroduce long-haul flights from Dusseldorf into its program: Our flights to the Dominican Republic are already taking off successfully. Dusseldorf Airport is the ideal departure airport for our guests in North Rhine-Westphalia, which is why we have expanded our top position in Dusseldorf for the Canary Islands this winter and are offering significantly more frequencies. We will also be significantly expanding our services from Dusseldorf in the coming summer season - with more flights to Mallorca and Greece. This is made possible not only by our close partnership with Dusseldorf Airport, but also by our own on-site maintenance operations. This will enable us to station even more aircraft in Dusseldorf and thus make a clear commitment to Dusseldorf as a business location.”
For summer 2022, Condor will offer four weekly flights between Düsseldorf and Athens, a new destination for the airline. Additionally, the carrier will operate four weekly flights to the popular destinations of Málaga in Spain and Nice on the Côte d’Azur in France. Croatia is also a popular summer destination, and in addition to Split on the Dalmatian Coast, Condor will offer weekly service to Dubrovnik and twice-weekly flights to the port city of Rijeka on the northern Adriatic.
Also commenting on Condor’s Düsseldorf commitment, Düsseldorf Airport’s CEO, Thomas Schnalke, said,

Because people want to travel more again. For a vacation in the sun or a visit to their home country, Condor is relying on proven destinations as well as new ones. We are very pleased about the return on the long-haul route to Punta Cana, just as we are about the launch of completely new destinations in the coming summer. The airline's commitment to Dusseldorf in these challenging times speaks for the strength of the location and the region.”
Currently employing around 100 team members with Condor Technik, Düsseldorf has been an important maintenance location for Condor since 2018. To date, Condor Technik has been responsible for the maintenance of the carrier’s entire Airbus fleet on site in Hall 7 at Düsseldorf Airport. Condor’s 16 newly ordered long-haul Airbus A330neos, which are successively replacing the airline’s Boeing 767s, will also be maintained in Düsseldorf, as well as Frankfurt. Condor Technik continues to grow their Düsseldorf technical site, and will add over 30 new employees in the coming months, including mechanics and engineers.
