Delta Air Lines to Expand International Schedule With Service to Athens and Seoul

From May 28, 2021, Delta Air Lines is Resuming service between New York-JFK and Athens for vaccinated travelers or those with a negative PCR test. The carrier is also launching new nonstop service between Portland, Oregon and Seoul-Incheon starting September 9, 2021.

On Tuesday (April 20, 2021) Delta Air Lines announced an expansion of their international schedule with the resumption of flights between New York (JFK) and Athens (ATH) from May 28th. The carrier is also launching new service between Portland International Airport (PDX) and Seoul-Incheon International Airport (ICN), providing seamless one-stop connections to over 80 destinations throughout Asia via Seoul with Delta’s joint venture partner Korean Air. The Portland-Seoul route will launch on September 9, 2021.


In Tuesday’s announcement, Delta Air Lines’ Senior Vice President – Network Planning, Joe Esposito, said,


“We know customers are eager to reclaim their lives and for many, that means traveling again. With the support of our partners and Delta’s extensive global network, we are ready to reconnect customers to their favorite destinations with new services and offerings, and as always, with their safety as our top priority.”


Delta will operate the route between New York-JFK and Athens with a 293-seat Airbus A330 featuring Delta One lie-flat beds, Delta Comfort+ and Main Cabin service. The aircraft has personal seat-back IFE screens in all cabins which include popular films and television programming. The flights will be operated in conjunction with Delta’s partners Air France, KLM and Virgin Atlantic. Athens is the second European destination after Reykjavík, Iceland that is open to vaccinated U.S. travelers. Starting next month, Delta will also resume and expand their flights to Reykjavík with new service from Boston (BOS) and returning service from New York (JFK) and Minneapolis/St. Paul (MSP).


The Portland (PDX) to Seoul Incheon (ICN) route will be operated three times weekly with an Airbus A330-200 featuring Delta One full-flat beds, Delta Comfort+ and Main cabin service. By summer 2022, the service will be upgraded to four products with the addition of Delta Premium Select.
