On Friday (June 21, 2024), Delta Air Lines announced the launch of new seasonal service between Orlando International Airport (MCO) and London Heathrow (LHR).  Starting October 26, 2024, the route will operate four times weekly, complementing Delta partner Virgin Atlantic’s daily LHR-MCO service.  With the added service, Orlando will become Delta’s only direct service between Florida and the UK, and the carrier’s eighth direct route from London for the winter 2024/25 season.  This bolsters Delta’s expanding network between Florida and Europe, and joins existing service between Orlando and Amsterdam, as well as newly announced service between Tampa and Amsterdam.

In Friday’s announcement, Delta Air Lines’ SVP – Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Matteo Curcio, said,

“In partnership with Virgin Atlantic, our new route between Orlando and London seamlessly connects two diverse destinations, offering customers a wealth of experiences on both sides of the Atlantic.  Floridians can explore London’s historic landmarks like Buckingham Palace and enjoy world-class dining, while Londoners can escape to the sunny beaches and world-famous attractions of Orlando.”

The new seasonal MCO-LHR route will operate four times per week until March 29, 2025, with an Airbus A330-900neo, featuring Delta One Suites, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort+ and Main Cabin options.  Delta’s flights to/from the UK are operated in conjunction with joint venture partners Virgin Atlantic, Air France and KLM.  Combined, Delta and Virgin Atlantic will operate up to 187 weekly flights from London Heathrow and 14 U.S. destinations this winter, including Miami, Tampa and Orlando in Florida and Delta’s hubs in Atlanta, Boston, Detroit, Minneapolis, New York-JFK, Seattle and Salt Lake City.  Virgin Atlantic also operates year-round service between Manchester and Orlando, as well as seasonal service between Edinburgh and Orlando.

Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines (NYSE: DAL) is the global U.S. airline leader in safety, innovation, reliability and customer experience.  The carrier operates over 4,000 daily flights across more than 280 destinations on six continents.  Delta has over 100,000 team members and has served over 190 million customers in 2023.  The airline operates significant hubs and key markets in Amsterdam, Atlanta, Boston, Detroit, London-Heathrow, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Minneapolis-St. Paul, New York-JFK and LaGuardia, Paris-Charles de Gaulle, Salt Lake City, Seattle, Seoul-Incheon and Tokyo.  For the last decade, Delta has led the industry in operational excellence, while maintaining their reputation for award-winning customer service.
