On Tuesday (September 10, 2024), Discover Airlines announced the launch of a new marketing partnership with the NFL American football team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  The multi-year partnership will focus on joint marketing and communication activities.  Discover Airlines offers the most connections between Germany and Florida, including the only daily nonstop connection to Tampa Bay.  The new partnership was announced Monday evening (September 9th) in a festive ceremony at Tampa International Airport (TPA), where the contract was signed by Discover Airlines’ CEO Bernd Bauer and Bryan Glazer, owner of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

At Monday’s signing ceremony, Discover Airlines’ CEO, Bernd Bauer, said,

“We dedicate this partnership to all sports enthusiasts and American football fans.  Sport brings people together and creates experiences that will be remembered for a long time.  There is no better place than the stadium to experience the fascination of football and the American attitude to life that goes with it.  For many fans, attending an NFL game is therefore on their bucket list. As an airline that flies daily to Tampa Bay, we look forward to welcoming many fans on board in the future and taking them directly to these unique sporting events.”

Also commenting on the new marketing partnership, Buccaneers’ Owner, Bryan Glazer, added,

“This is a momentous day for the Buccaneers as we celebrate our first international partnership with a German-based organization.  Discover Airlines is an ideal partner that has been flying direct from Frankfurt to Tampa Bay for three years and will play a large role in our continuing efforts to connect with our German fans.  This partnership will also benefit our entire region by generating additional interest in Tampa Bay as a vacation destination for international visitors who travel in to experience our games.”

In addition to joint marketing and communication initiatives, the partnership will also offer special events and raffles for flight and game tickets.  Through the new marketing collaboration, both partners expect to benefit from the additional visibility in their respective key markets.  Germany is on of the Bucs’ key international growth markets, with a steadily growing fan base.

Florida is one of Discover Airlines’ most important markets, and the carrier currently offers 20 weekly connections from Germany, including daily service between Frankfurt and Tampa Bay.  In addition to Tampa, Discover offers 10 weekly flights to Orlando, and three weekly flights to Fort Myers.  From Summer 2025, the carrier will also expand service between Munich and Orlando with three weekly flights.

Headquartered in Frankfurt, Discover Airlines is Lufthansa Group’s quality leisure airline in Germany, flying travelers from Frankfurt and Munich to the most beautiful holiday destinations worldwide.  Through its full integration into the Lufthansa Group network and codeshare partnerships with Air Canada and United Airlines, Discover Airlines offers travelers a wide range of end-to-end bookings and seamless transfers.  Currently, the airline operates a fleet of 27 aircraft and employs around 2,000 team members.
