Discover Airlines to Introduce Free Messaging on Long Haul Flights From Summer 2025

Discover Airlines has today announced the introduction of free, unlimited messaging in all classes on long-haul flights from summer 2025.  With the new service, Discover joins Lufthansa, SWISS and Austrian Airlines, who already offer free messaging.

On Monday (March 17, 2025). Discover Airlines announced the introduction of free, unlimited messaging for customers in all cabins on long-haul flights for summer 2025.  With the new service, Discover joins other Lufthansa Group airlines which already offer this service on select long-haul flights, including Lufthansa, SWISS and Austrian Airlines.  Currently, Discover Airlines already offers FlyNet® internet onboard, which is available for a charge.  In the future, Discover’s guests will be able to send and receive unlimited text and picture messages free of charge via their mobile devices during their flight.


In Monday’s announcement, Discover Airlines’ Chief Commercial Officer, Marco Götz, said,


"The introduction of this new complimentary service is a great upgrade for our guests.  It also pays into our commitment to provide a seamless travel experience for guests combining Discover Airlines and Lufthansa flights.”
