easyJet celebrated the launch of service between Manchester and Newquay today with the flight departing Manchester Airport at 08:00. The carrier also announced COVID-19 testing enhancements with Collinson, offering new affordable options and exclusive discounts.
On Tuesday (May 25, 2021), easyJet announced the launch of their inaugural flight between Manchester and Newquay, which departed Manchester Airport this morning at 08:00. The flight marked the launch of more convenient connectivity this summer between Manchester and the North West with the scenic South Coast. The new route complements other additions to easyJet’s Manchester network for summer including flights to Kos from June 26th, Nice from July 4th and Ibiza starting July 24, 2021. easyJet’s Manchester-Newquay service will operate up to five times weekly throughout the summer. Newquay is expected to be a popular domestic destination this summer, offering a visit to the scenic Cornish coastline with over 300 beaches, varying from golden sand to pebbly and dog-friendly, to secluded. Return fares on the new route are available from only £45.98 per person.
In Tuesday’s announcement, easyJet’s UK Country Manager, Ali Gayward, said,
“We are really excited to be celebrating the launch of our new route from Manchester to Newquay today. We know that people across the UK want to travel this summer, so we’re delighted to offer even more direct domestic routes, reuniting customers in the North West with family and friends or taking them away on a long-awaited break. At easyJet, we remain focused on strengthening our UK network, as well as providing customers with more choice, great value fares and unrivalled customer service.”
Also commenting on the route launch today, Manchester Airport’s Managing Director, Karen Smart, added,
“We are thrilled to see easyJet expanding its offering from Manchester with this new service. Greater connectivity and more choice for passengers travelling to the South West is good news for the North, whilst this route will ultimately give travellers in the South West access to an extensive range of destinations from Manchester, as international travel resumes.”
In a separate press release today, easyJet announced the launch of an enhanced COVID-19 testing offer with approved airport testing provider Collinson, with the hopes of getting more brits flying this summer with exclusive discounts. Testing facilities are conveniently located at easyJet airports across the UK including London-Luton, London-Gatwick (APH Parking) and Manchester, as well as the O2 Arena in central London.
easyJet guests will now be able to access Collinson tests at discounted prices starting at £32 for a Lateral Flow Antigen test, £66 for PCR and £68 for LAMP tests. Additionally, for in-destination testing prior to returning to the UK, Collinson has launched a pre-return video testing solution. Before departure from the UK, easyJet customers can book their appointment and test kit a minimum of three full working days before their flight at a discounted rate of £32. Next, up to 72 hours before their return flight to the UK, customers can complete their test via video consultation with a medical practitioner, to verify the result and issue certification via email.
Speaking on the enhanced testing options, easyJet’s Chief Commercial officer, Sophie Dekkers, said,
“At easyJet we’re focused on ensuring travel is easy and accessible for all. This partnership with Collinson enables us to provide customers with easy access to more convenient approved testing services, making it easier for them when travelling abroad this summer.”
Further commenting on the testing partnership, Collinson’s Joint CEO, David Evans, added,
“With travel opening up for all, we’re delighted to offer discounted test prices to easyJet customers, helping them to fly safely, affordably and in line with the latest Government guidance. We continue to offer a variety of testing services run by trained medical professionals in airports and venues around the world, making the return to travel as easy and convenient as possible.”
