Emirates SkyCargo Orders Five Additional Boeing 777 Freighters

Boeing has today announced that Emirates has ordered five additional Boeing 777 Freighters, building on an earlier purchase of five of the type.  The order was finalized in September and was listed as unidentified on Boeing’s Orders and Deliveries website.

On Monday (October 21, 2024), Boeing announced that Emirates SkyCargo has placed an incremental order for five additional Boeing 777 Freighters, building on a previous order for five of the world’s longest-range twin engine freighter.  The order was finalized last month and listed on Boeing's Orders and deliveries website as unidentified.  This brings Emirates’ orderbook with Boeing to 249 widebody airplanes, including 14 777 Freighters.  Emirates SkyCargo is the freight division of the world’s largest international airline, and they plan on operating 21 777Fs in the coming years, nearly doubling their fleet of 11 freighters.

In Monday’s announcement, Emirates Airline and Group Chairman and CEO, His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, said,

“We’re investing in new freighter aircraft to meet surging demand and provide our customers around the world with even more flexibility, connectivity and options to leverage market opportunity.  Demand for Emirates’ air cargo services has been booming. This reflects Dubai’s growing prominence as a preferred and trusted global logistics hub, and also the success of Emirates SkyCargo’s bespoke solutions that address the needs of shippers in different industry sectors.”

Also commenting on the incremental 777F order, Boeing Commercial Airplanes’ President and CEO, Stephanie Pope, added,

“Emirates continues to set the direction for our industry and we deeply appreciate the trust they have placed in the Boeing widebody family to serve as the backbone of their global fleet.  We are proud to support Emirates SkyCargo's growth as it relies on the performance and versatility of our 777 Freighter to further connect the world.”

The Boeing 777 Freighter has a range of 4,970 nautical miles (9,200 km) and a freight capacity of over 102 tonnes, more than any other twin-engine cargo jet flying today.  This capability allows operators to fly more direct routes with better operating economics, connecting key cargo markets such as between the Middle East, the U.S. and Europe.
