Emirates to Resume Flights to Mexico City via Barcelona From July 2, 2021

Emirates will restart service to Mexico City via Barcelona with four weekly flights from July 2nd, 2021. The Barcelona-Mexico City route will be operated with a two-class Boeing 777-200LR with 38 Business Class and 264 Economy Class seats.

On Thursday (April 22, 2021), Emirates announced the relaunch of service to Mexico City (MEX) via Barcelona (BCN) with four weekly flights staring July 2nd, 2021. The route will be operated with a Boeing 777-200LR with 38 Business Class seats in a 2-2-2 configuration and 264 Economy Class seats. Emirates flight EK255 will depart Dubai at 03:25 and arrive in Barcelona at 08:35, before departing again at 10:50 and arriving in Mexico City at 16:05 the same day. The return flight (EK256) will depart Mexico City at 19:40 and arrive in Barcelona at 13:45 the next day. The flight then departs Barcelona at 15:30, arriving in Dubai at 00:15 the next day (all times local).


The resumed Dubai-Barcelona-Mexico City route will serve Emirates’ customers in Mexico and offer more choices for travelers from Europe, India Southeast Asia and the Middle East via Dubai or Barcelona. Additionally, the route will provide additional global connectivity for Mexican imports including avocados, berries, mangoes, automotive parts and medical supplies. Emirates SkyCargo has served Mexico City since 2014 and continued flights throughout the pandemic transporting essential PPE and vaccines.


Emirates’ guests requiring a COVID-19 PCR test prior to departure from Dubai can receive special pricing at clinics across Dubai by presenting their ticket or boarding pass. Home testing is also available, with results in 48 hours.

Customers holding tickets issued before September 30, 2020 for travel before December 31, 2021 can now rebook to travel anytime within 36 months, an extension of 12 months from the previous policy. Tickets issued after October 1st, 2020 for travel before December 31, 2021, can be utilized anytime within 36 months of the original booking. Ticket change fees have been waived and vouchers or unused portions of Emirates’ tickets can be refunded without penalty. Additionally, all Emirates customers can travel with confidence and peace of mind as the carrier has launched an industry first multi-risk travel insurance and COVID-19 cover. The coverage is automatically included for all tickets purchased on or after December 1st, 2020.
