Starting July 2, 2025, Ethiopian Airlines will offer new service between Addis Ababa and Porto, Portugal, with an interim stop in Madrid, Spain. The route will operate four times weekly with a Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

On Friday (February 28, 2025), Ethiopian Airlines announced the launch of new service between Addis Ababa and Porto, Portugal via Madrid, Spain. Starting July 2, 2025, the route will operate four times weekly on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Flight ET740 will depart Addis Ababa at 23:10, arriving in Madrid at 05:55+1. The flight will then depart Madrid on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 06:55 before touching down on Porto at 07:15. The return flight, ET741, will depart Porto on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 19:55, and will arrive in Madrid at 21:10, before departing again at 23:10 and arriving back in Addis Ababa at 07:25+1.
In Friday’s announcement, Ethiopian Airlines’ CEO, Mr. Mesfin Tasew, said,
