On Monday (December 28, 2020), Etihad Airways announced an expansion of their business with new fully customizable charter and special flight services. The carrier will offer a variety of options including dedicated passenger services, cargo-only flights and a combined passenger and cargo package. During 2020, Etihad has flown over 500 passenger, government and humanitarian charter flights. The airline has also transported over 3.8 million tonnes of cargo for the government of Abu Dhabi as part of the national aid program. In Monday’s announcement, Etihad Airways’ Vice President – Network Planning and Alliances, Alex Featherstone, said,
“While the COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact the commercial aviation industry, charter flights provide a convenient alternative to travel, providing customers with the flexibility to choose the departure time, destination and routing.”
Guests flying to, from and via Abu Dhabi will experience the airline’s comprehensive ‘Etihad Wellness’ sanitization and safety program, with the highest international hygiene standards at every step of the journey. The program also provides complimentary COVID-19 insurance for customers. Etihad is the first airline to deploy specially trained ‘Wellness Ambassadors’ who provide essential travel health information and care both on the ground and onboard so guests can fly with greater confidence and peace of mind. Additionally, Etihad is the only airline in the world requiring 100% of their passengers to show a negative COVID-19 test before departure as well as on arrival in Abu Dhabi.
