In Wednesday’s announcement, Fiji Airways’ Managing Director and CEO, Andre Viljoen, said,
“We're excited to give our Wellington-based whānau a long-awaited "bula" welcome on board after more than two years apart. While we have a special celebration planned at Wellington Airport for our guests travelling on this first flight, all of our guests can expect a special journey to our islands owed to the over 60 ways we've enhanced our service since we last flew to Wellington, from the increased baggage allowance from 23kg to 30kg in economy, the food we serve and a new way to keep our younger guests entertained onboard with our complimentary in-flight activity pack and book series.
“Since Fiji and New Zealand reopened to each other, we've started with flights from Auckland. After a surge in enquiries and bookings from Kiwis looking to holiday in Fiji, we've resumed direct flights to Nadi from Wellington and Christchurch this week. As we continue to ramp up our flight schedules across New Zealand, guests can trust our commitment to safety with our award-winning Travel Ready service, Skytrax 5-Star COVID Safety rating and the highest Hospital Grade “Diamond” certification by APEX Health and Safety.”
Fiji Airways has overhauled their onboard Business Class dining experience in partnership with renowned Kiwi-Fijian Chef Richard Cross, and has also introduced a new suite of highly rated international wines. Additionally, guests now have access to the digital reading platform, PressReader, which includes over 7,000 international newspapers and magazines that can be downloaded directly to their personal device. The service is available 96 hours prior to departure and up to 24 hours after the flight. For their youngest guests, Fiji Airways has also launched ‘Our Ocean, Our Life’, a complimentary inflight activity pack and book series for passengers aged 2-12, which is dedicated to education the future generation on the importance of preserving and protecting Fiji’s fragile marine environment.
