On Thursday (January 9, 2025), Fiji Airways announced the delivery of two new ATR 72-600 regional turboprop aircraft, which will facilitate a domestic and regional network expansion, particularly in Northern Fiji.  The first new aircraft arrived on December 29, 2024, and the second arrived on January 5, 2025.  The new ATR 72-600s have a seating capacity for 68 passengers, and will primarily be deployed on regional Northern and Western routes.  Additional ATR aircraft will be introduced over time and will be used to enhance capacity and frequencies on key domestic routes such as Nadi-Suva and Labasa.

In Thursday’s announcement, Fiji Airways’ Managing Director and CEO, Andre Viljoen, said,

“These two new ATR aircraft are a significant investment in Fiji’s domestic connectivity.  They are an important part of our commitment to providing comfortable and efficient travel options for our passengers and offering greater connectivity between our islands.  This fleet expansion will also help us continue to meet the growing demand for domestic travel, ensuring that we can provide increased capacity where it’s needed most.”

Further speaking on the new Fiji Link uniform rollout, Mr. Viljoen, added,

“We’re excited to introduce our new Fiji Link uniforms, which bring us closer to our goal of a unified brand.  The standardization of our uniforms across Fiji Airways and Fiji Link reflects our ongoing commitment to excellence and professionalism, ensuring that our crew represents the highest standards of service, and our passengers enjoy a seamless, consistent experience.”

The additional aircraft and uniform changes are part of Fiji Airways’ broader efforts to elevate the guest experience, while reinforcing the company’s brand as Fiji’s national carrier.
