Frontier Airlines has today announced the introduction of complimentary seat upgrades for Elite Status members, the first of several new enhancements being launched in 2025. For a limited time, customers can also fast-track to Elite Status with only 20,000 Points.
On Wednesday (January 15, 2025) Frontier Airlines announced the launch of a major enhancement to the carrier’s most loyal customers – expanded access to free seat upgrades for Elite Status members. Beginning today, eligible Elite Status members can upgrade to both Premium Seating and UpFront Plus, featuring guaranteed open middle seats. As previously announced, later this year Frontier will introduce all new First Class seats, which will also be available for upgrades by Elite Status members. With these changes, Platinum Members will be eligible for upgrades starting 12 hours prior to departure, while Gold Members will become eligible starting four hours before departure.
In Wednesday’s announcement, Frontier Airlines’ Chief Commercial Officer, Bobby Shroeter, said,
“We have so much in store for 2025 as we write the next chapter of The New Frontier and show that luxury and affordability can fly hand in hand. Frontier’s most loyal customers will have even more reason to make us their airline of choice this year as they start enjoying free seat upgrades and other enhancements, adding extra comfort and convenience to their travel.”
Additionally, for a limited time, customers can fast-track to Platinum Elite Status by earning 20,000 Elite Status points by April 30, 2025. This will unlock Platinum Elite Status through the end of the year, which will include free seat upgrades, along with Frontier’s new, free, unlimited companion travel launching mid-2025. Normally, Platinum Elite Status requires an accrual of 50,000 Elite Status Points, so the limited time offer reduces the threshold by more than half.
Accumulating Elite Status Points is easier for FRONTIER Airlines World Mastercard® cardholders, who earn one point for every dollar spent on everyday purchases. Cardmembers also enjoy other exclusive perks such as two free checked bags on every flight, and instant Elite Gold status for 90 days after their first card purchase.
Frontier has also introduced ‘The New Frontier’ which provides more transparency through upfront pricing and options to meet the needs of individual guests. The enhancements include no change or cancellation fees, a ‘For Less’ Price Guarantee and longer flight credit windows, among others. The carrier also now offers UpFront Plus, a new upgraded seating option with extra leg and elbowroom, plus an empty middle seat, in the first two rows of the aircraft.
Denver-based Frontier Airlines is a subsidiary of Frontier Group Holdings, Inc. The carrier is committed to ‘Low Fares Done Right’, and currently operates a fleet of 153 Airbus A320 Family and the largest A320neo fleet in the U.S. With approximately 200 new Airbus aircraft on order, Frontier will continue to grow and deliver on their mission of providing affordable air travel across America and beyond.
