Frontier Airlines Launches New Service Between Miami and San José, Costa Rica

Today, Frontier Airlines launched new twice weekly service between Miami International Airport (MIA) and San José, Costa Rica (SJO). The carrier will also launch new once-weekly service between Miami and St. Maarten on July 10, 2021.

On Friday (July 2, 2021), Frontier Airlines announced the launch of new twice-weekly nonstop service between Miami International Airport (MIA) and San José, Costa Rica (SJO). The carrier is also launching new once-weekly service between Miami and St. Maarten (SXM) starting July 10, 2021. To celebrate the new Miami-San José service, Frontier is offering low one-way introductory fares from only $79. To qualify for the special fares, tickets must be purchased by 11:59 EDT on July 7, 2021, for travel on Thursdays and Sundays through October 7, 2021. A seven day advance purchase applies, but a roundtrip purchase is not required.


In Friday’s announcement, Frontier Airlines’ Senior Vice President of Commercial, Daniel Schurz, said.


“We’re excited to launch service from Miami to Costa Rica today and St. Maarten next week. With the addition of this new service, Frontier now offers 33 nonstop Miami routes this summer. We have expanded our MIA route network to meet the pent-up desire for summer travel while maintaining affordable fares and a friendly flying experience.”

Also commenting on the new route launch, Miami International Airport’s Interim Director, Ralph Cutié, added


“Congratulations to Frontier on successfully launching their new San José-Miami service. We appreciate Frontier’s ongoing expansion at MIA to 33 destinations, 10 of which are now international routes.”
