On Wednesday (November 8, 2023), Frontier Airlines announced plans to open a new crew base at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE) in March 2024. The base will support 110 pilot and 250 cabin crew positions, as well as 50 maintenance jobs in the first year of operation, and is expected to generate nearly $80 million in annual local wages. Over the past year, Frontier has nearly doubled passenger capacity at CLE, becoming the airport’s fastest growing airline. Celebrating the new base opening, Frontier is offering one-way fares between Cleveland and Atlanta from only $29. To qualify for the promotional fare, tickets must be booked by 11:59 PM on November 20th, for nonstop travel through December 20, 2024. Blackout dates include November 20-26, and a seven day advance purchase is required, although roundtrip travel is not required.
In Wednesday’s announcement, Frontier Airlines’ CEO, Barry Biffle, said,
“We’re excited to partner with the Cleveland community as we continue to expand our operation at CLE and bring meaningful economic impact to the area through new jobs. A crew base also positively impacts customers as it helps to support smooth flight operations. Our new crew base reflects our commitment to continued growth at CLE as we bring even more of our ‘Low Fares Done Right’ to area residents.”
Cleveland Hopkins International Airport’s Director of Port Control, Bryant L. Francis, C.M., added,
“Frontier Airlines has been a key partner in helping CLE rebuild and redefine our market over the last nine years. This announcement further solidifies Frontier’s commitment to both Cleveland Hopkins and Northeast Ohio as an increasingly important member of the business community.”
