On Thursday (November 3, 2022), Frontier Airlines announced the opening of a new crew base at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) in May 2023. The base is expected to employ up to 120 pilots and 220 cabin crew members during the first year of operation, generating over $78 million in local wages. Frontier has been the fastest growing carrier at DFW since 2019, and will also launch five new routes from the airport including service to Montego Bay, Jamaica (MBJ), Baltimore (BWI), New York-La Guardia (LGA), Raleigh-Durham (RDU) and Orange County, California (SNA). The new routes are scheduled to commence in spring 2023, expanding the airline’s network from DFW to 19 nonstop routes.

In Thursday’s announcement, Frontier Airlines’ President and CEO, Barry Biffle, said,

“We are thrilled to partner with the outstanding leadership at DFW to bring new jobs and meaningful economic impact to the Dallas Forth Worth community. Opening a crew base here demonstrates our strong commitment to continued growth and expanded service. Frontier is an ultra-low cost carrier and consumers appreciate the value offered by our ‘Low Fares Done Right’ approach to air travel now more than ever.”

Also commenting on Frontier’s new DFW base, Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport’s CEO, Sean Donohue, added,

“DFW Airport is excited to be a part of Frontier Airlines’ growth here in North Texas. We look forward to welcoming the new Frontier employees to the Dallas Fort Worth region.”
