On Wednesday (March 26, 2025), Iberia announced that they will increase frequencies between Madrid and San Juan, Puerto Rico for the winter 2025/26 season, with up to 11 weekly flights.  This is an addition of approximately 16,190 seats compared to winter 2024/25, and represents the first time the carrier has reached this number of frequencies on an international route.  Starting October 28, 2025, the route will operate daily with a new 182-passenger Airbus A321XLR, and four times weekly with a 288-passenger Airbus A330-200.

In Wednesday’s announcement, Iberia’s Director of Sales, Customers, Network Development and Alliances, María Jesús López Solás, said,

“We are very excited to announce that, for the second consecutive year, we are increasing our capacity between Puerto Rico and Europe.  Last year, we already reached the goal of having a daily flight between San Juan and Madrid, and this latest increase highlights our strong commitment to this market, undoubtedly one of the best performing across our entire Latin American and Caribbean network.”

During the International Tourism Fair held in Madrid last January, the Government of Puerto Rico, the Tourism Company, and Iberia signed an agreement to promote Puerto Rico as a tourist destination to Europeans.  With this agreement, coupled with the additional frequencies, Iberia hopes to attract a greater number of visitors seeking an exceptional Caribbean holiday.
