Iberia guests can now check-in, obtain boarding passes, receive flight notifications and more via WhatsApp. For summer 2024, the carrier is also introducing new menus and amenity kits, as well as an upgraded lounge experience.
On Wednesday (July 3, 2024), Iberia announced the introduction of new menus, amenity kits and digital features to further elevate the guest experience. Customers can now check-in, obtain boarding passes and receive notifications about their flights via WhatsApp. New culinary options are being rolled out across all cabins on long-haul flights. Business Class guests can enjoy a new welcome grapefruit mocktail and meal choices such as octopus marinated with orange and paprika, accompanied by potatoes and escarole sprouts, grilled beef tenderloin in oxtail juice, grilled prawns in a creamy seafood sauce, or handmade panzerotti pasta stuffed with parmesan.
In Premium Tourist, customers can indulge in potato salad with mayonnaise and piquillo peppers and stewed veal cheeks on a white bean mousseline, while Tourist (Economy Class) passengers can enjoy homemade meatballs in romesco sauce, among many others. All of the new menu choices will be served on new trays with more sustainable service items. Additionally, guest traveling in these two classes will enjoy new Magnum ice cream flavors, as well as a new pre-landing hot sandwich service.
Iberia’s Gastrobar menu has also been updated, and now includes products such as the brioche sandwich with bacon and pepper jam, the vegetable sandwich or the hazelnut cookie filled with Nutella. Customers traveling on shorter flights can order from the Gastrobar menu from their seat by using their own personal device. Additionally, the carrier’s Pre-Order menu has been updated and now includes new choices such as rice risotto with mushrooms, stuffed aubergine, or an assortment of popular tapas. Guests wishing to celebrate a special occasion onboard can also do so by booking the ‘special celebration pack’, which includes cava and cake, and make the payment through Google Pay and Apple Pay.
The new WhatsApp functionalities will allow customers to check-in and obtain boarding passes for various destinations, including domestic trips in Spain, European Schengen, the UK, Ireland, Chile, Peru and Uruguay. Customers can also review reservation details, and retrieve flight status information. Additionally, payments for certain services such as additional baggage will soon be available via Iberia’s WhatsApp channel, which has also now been opened to Iberia Plus Platinum, Infinita and Infinita Prime customers.
As previously mentioned, Business and Premium Tourist guests traveling on long-haul flights will also enjoy new amenity kits designed by Teresa Helbig, which have been inspired by her uniforms designed for Iberia, and feature a color palette of blue, red and yellow. With sustainability in mind, the bags have been produced by recycling 7.5 million plastic bottles, and include new Spanish-made natural and vegan cosmetics by Uvas Frescas. The toiletries have been produced with the surplus from the grape harvest used to make Araex wines, while the packaging has been made from sugar cane. Additionally, they are packaged by Envera, the association of Iberia employees who are parents of people with disabilities, which employs approximately 850 team members with functional diversity.
Iberia’s Premium customers will also enjoy an elevated experience on land, as the carrier’s Premium Lounges in Terminal 4 at Barajas also have new features, with improved digitalization of services that customers can access via QR code. The dining room menus have also been updated for the summer season. Finally, from July 1st through December 31, 2024, Iberia’s Platinum, Infinita and Infinita Prime customers will receive a voucher to use on their trips to the airport with Cabify.
