On Tuesday (January 14, 2025), Iberia announced the relaunch of their 50+ year old Air Bridge service between Madrid and Barcelona with two new fares.  The FLEXIBLE Air Bridge rate includes all of the benefits at a fixed price, while the COMFORT rate offers key attributes at a more reasonable price.  The two new fares complement the existing Business Air Bridge rate, which remains unchanged.  Currently, Iberia Sky Bridge operates up to 14 times daily in both directions, with flights departing every 30 minutes during peak hours.

The new Flexible Air Bridge rate includes a checked bag up to 23 kg, a choice of any seat on the plane, including Economy front seats and XL seats, access to Fast lane security, Priority boarding, and a free change at any time without fees, or payment of a rate difference.  The Flexible fare also includes ticket change for a ‘no-show’ passenger, free refunds, open tickets, and one additional Avios to the amount corresponding to Iberia Plus status.  The price of the Flexible Air Bridge fare is €219 each way for a roundtrip flight.

The Iberia Air Bridge operates from 06:45 to 12:35, allowing trips to be tailored to the need of each passenger, and has an exclusive area at Madrid and Barcelona where customers can check-in and obtain their boarding pass at new self-service machines.  In Madrid, the Puente Aéreo (Sky Bridge) has a new 25 square meter location with two conventional check-in stations and two self-service kiosks, adapted for customers in wheelchairs.  Information screens are also available showing seat availability for the next and subsequent flights to facilitate changes, if desired.  Additionally, at Barcelona’s El prat and Madrid-Barajas airports, these counters, the security checkpoint and the VIP lounge are located close to the Air Bridge boarding gates, allowing customers to arrive at the boarding gate just 15 minutes prior to departure.
