ITA Airways Airbus A320neo featuring the carrier’s new blue livery took flight for the first time today, departing Rome Fiumicino Airport at 13:20 for Palermo’s Punta Raisi Airport. The aircraft has been dedicated to Italian cyclist Francesco Moser.
On Monday (February 20, 2023), ITA Airways announced the launch of commercial service of their Airbus A320neo featuring the airline’s new blue livery. The aircraft departed Rome Fiumicino at 13:20 enroute to Palermo’s Punta Raisi Airport. Named ‘Francisco Moser’ in honor of the famed Italian cyclist of the 1970s and 80s, the aircraft features unique design details such as the Zorro mask and sharklets. For summer 2023, the new A320neo will serve ITA’s domestic and international network with service from Rome Fiumicino to Brindisi, Bari, Bologna, Catania, Genoa, Milan Linate, Naples, Palermo, Lamezia Terme, Turin and Venice in Italy, as well as Paris, Madrid and Brussels.
The Airbus A320neo delivers a 20 percent reduction in fuel burn and emissions per seat compared to previous generation aircraft. The aircraft also features an innovative new cabin design, providing a unique travel experience with modern, comfortable seats. ITA Airways continues to modernize their fleet with more environmentally friendly aircraft. The carrier’s fleet will feature 80 percent new generation aircraft by 2026, resulting in a reduction of 1.3 million tons of CO2 emissions.
