ITA Airways to Launch New Nonstop Service Between Rome Fiumicino and Bangkok for Winter 2024/25

ITA Airways has opened ticket sales for new direct service between Rome Fiumicino and Bangkok.  Starting November 16, 2024, the route will operate five times weekly.  This is in addition to new service between Rome Fiumicino and Dubai starting October 27th.

On Monday (July 1st, 2024), ITA Airways announced the opening of ticket sales for new nonstop service between Rome Fiumicino and Bangkok, the carrier’s first destination in Thailand.  Starting November 16, 2024, the route will operate five times weekly with an Airbus A330neo.  Flights will depart Rome on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays at 15:15, and will arrive in Bangkok at 07:40.  The return flights depart Bangkok on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays at 12:15, and touches down back in Rome at 19:00 (all times local).  This is in addition to new service between Rome Fiumicino and Dubai which will commence on October 27, 2024.  


In Monday’s announcement, ITA Airways’ Chief Commercial officer and CEO of Volare, Emiliana Limosani, said,


“Our new Rome – Bangkok connection represents an important step forward in ITA Airways' development strategy as it adds another intercontinental destination and opens for our passengers the doors to Thailand, a strategic market in terms of leisure tourism and business segment.


“Bangkok has always been one of the world's top tourism capitals and an important hub, that allows to reach the most famous paradisiacal destinations in the world thanks to connecting flights with numerous Thai islands.  At the same time, it is a key destination for business traffic between the two Countries, a sector in constant growth.  The new direct flight also reflects ITA Airways’ commitment to providing optimal travel solutions, confirming the importance of developing the intercontinental network in the Company’s commercial strategies.”


Also commenting on the carrier’s new Bangkok service, Aeroporti di Roma’s Chief Aviation Officer, Ivan Bassato, said,


“Thailand is one of the target markets in Southeast Asia for Rome, and being able to count on this new direct connection from ITA Airways is a great source of satisfaction for us.  The new route to Bangkok will be an excellent option both for business travelers and for the many tourists, representing a sure boost to the growth of traffic flows and collaboration opportunities between the two Countries.”


For summer 2024, ITA Airways is serving 57 destinations, including 16 domestic, 26 international and 15 intercontinental.  Over the last few months, the carrier also inaugurated new service from Rome Fiumicino to Chicago, Toronto, Riyadh and Accra, and will inaugurate new service to Dakar and Jeddah on July 3rd and August 1st, 2024, respectively.
