In Thursday’s announcement, J-AIR’s President, Shunsuke Honda, said,
“I tried watching my favorite movie during a test flight and the 2-hour journey felt incredibly short. We are looking forward to everyone experiencing this service and are excited about welcoming more passengers aboard J-AIR flights.”
Also commenting on the connectivity collaboration, Intelsat’s Director – Airline Partnerships, APAC, John Hopkins, added
“Technological innovations are delivering higher capacity satellite communications to J-AIR flights. Intelsat’s reliable satellite connectivity will soon provide smooth use of email, streaming services and social networking for all passengers. We are confident that J-AIR passengers will be satisfied with this new service.”
The free streaming service will be available on select J-AIR flights between Tokyo-Haneda and Misawa, Akita, Ube, Miyazaki, Osaka (Itami), Sendai and Kagoshima, among others.
