On Tuesday (January 21, 2025), JetBlue announced that they have become the first airline to accept Venmo as another easy and secure payment option for customers booking flights directly online.  Currently the option is available on the JetBlue website, and will roll out on the JetBlue app in the coming months.  U.S. customers can now conveniently purchase flights using their Venmo balance or linked bank accounts, or with a debit or credit card.

In Tuesday’s announcement, JetBlue’s Chief Digital and Technology Officer, Carol Clements, said,

“We’re continually looking for ways to make it easier to book a JetBlue flight on our website and mobile app.  Adding Venmo offers a seamless payment option for customers who enjoy the ease and convenience of the Venmo platform.”

Also commenting on the new payment collaboration, PayPal’s SVP and General manager of Consumer, John Anderson, added,

“Travel is not just about the destination, but the people you go with and how you share the experience.  The added ability to pay with Venmo for flights on JetBlue and manage travel costs during the trip through Groups helps solve the pain points of shared expenses from the time of booking to returning home.”

This is just the latest example of how JetBlue is using digital technology to help customers customize and simplify their travel journey.  In September 2024, the carrier added valuable mobile app features such as a countdown to boarding on phone lock screens, as well as more easily accessible gate information.

JetBlue is ‘New York’s Hometown Airline®’ and a leading carrier in Boston (BOS), Fort Lauderdale (FLL), Los Angeles (LAX), Orlando (MCO) and San Juan (SJU).  The airline carries guests to over 100 destinations across the U.S., Caribbean, Latin America, the UK (London Heathrow, London Gatwick, Edinburgh), Paris, Amsterdam and Dublin.  JetBlue Airways Corporation trades on the NASDAQ under the ticker symbol JBLU.
